Weak Product – Dont believe the commercials!
    Rating:1 out of 5 stars
Save yourself time and money, dont buy this product. This product is not meant to do the heavy duty stuff you see it do on TV. I got all excited because I am doing a remodel and figured an all in one tool like this would help. WRONG. I promise you, if you buy this product you will feel robbed. Here is something to consider.

    1) The blades dont last that long, I cut through two nails with the univeral blade and it was done. A new blade costs $10 bucks and guess what, they are not available in local stores. So you have to wait to get them in the mail. Cutting in wood is fun because unless it is ultra thin or there is already a gap it, i can cut the wood with a handsaw faster.

    2) This is intended more for crafts, the sanding unit on this is for softwoods at best. It feels as if I used countless of those sandpaper grits and barely made a dent on touching up sections in my hardwoods.

    3) The carbide blade works at the pace of a snail for it to be effective. I was trying to remove some tile floor, well guess what it took forever to remove a line of grout next to the tile.

    4) The scrapper, ok this product works as good as a butter knife, if you want to test this, try them side by side, you will have a good laugh.

    5) Nobody wants to buy this at half the value. Nobody and I wonder why…

I can go on and on and I hope you read this before you buy, I read these things nowadays cause you can save yourself a lot of time and money. I am going to prove these things with a video. So stand by.

Invest the money in individual tools and you will save both money and time.

Product was as advertized. I haven’t used it a lot but I can see lots of future projects where it will be the right tool.

Great tool but blades do not last
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
The tool works great but the blades do not last. I took down 3 plaster walls and put in new wireing and walls. It was a 4 day job and I wore out the end cut blade, the half circle carbide blade, and the half circle cutting blade. All new when I started the job. By the time i payed to replace the blades I did not make much money on that job.

NEEDS BETTER QUALITY BLADES! HEAT TREAT THE CUTTING BLADES!

    Somewhat disappointing

I just purchased this and have not used it on too many projects yet. I bought the version with the extra attachments. The biggest problem is that the user manual is about 10 pages long and is almost entirely made up of warnings not to misuse the tool and hurt yourself. There are only a few lines on proper use and only a diagram to explain how to attach blades and so on.

So if you plan on buying this you might want to go see a demo or watch the TV ad very closely to see how to use it.

Rockwell RK5102K Sonicrafter Deluxe 72 piece kit

The Sonicrafter seems to work well. At first, like others, I had problems with the blade loosening but after learning to tighten it tight enough I haven’t had a problem. I had to tighten the screw tighter than I thought it should have been but that’s what it takes for it to work properly. I’m looking forward to this saving me a lot of work in the future & allowing me to do a better job easier than I probably would otherwise.

    Awesome tool

I have needed one of these for quite a while, but never bought one due to the high price of the better units (ie: Fein). I am in the midst of making hand-made wainscot for my son’s room, and I needed a powerful detail sander and a tool that could make accurate plunge cuts and do detailed touch-up work. After reading the reviews of the Rockwell, the only con I could see was that the accessories weren’t readily available at my local store — for the price, I figured I could live with that. I used it last weekend for the first time, and let me tell you, this is a tool that no DIYer should be without. Because the heads motion isn’t rotary, there is hardly any dust kicked up — it just drops below where you’re working. I was sanding 1/2″ MDF without a mask! The tool appears nicely made with a magnesium head casing, the switch had a positive feel, and the speed dial stays where you set it. Changing heads only requires loosening 1 hex head bolt. It has a good weight and balance, and fits well in the hand. I purchased the deluxe 72 piece kit, and I can definitely see myself using this thing quite a bit. I’m starting to feel like I should have bought it a long time ago. Highly recommended, and you can’t beat the price.

Harbor Freight has the same tool for less!
    Rating:3 out of 5 stars
I have the Harbor Freight version. Came with several blades and sanding pads – but it does not have the diamond blade which is a big part of the 180.00 layout for the Rockwell version. Also it is not variable speed. But I’ve used it for all sorts of material – tile/carpet/wood/metal with no issues and the blades are still sharp. It was like 40.00 on the website – really more useful for the not-using-every-day sort of hobbyist. I tried the Dremel one and really did not like it for the price; maybe the Rockwell is a better build?

This is one tool I wish I had bought years ago. It is great. Only complaints, blades are expensive, and it would be nice if blade changing was tool less.

    Great Tool

I bought the Sonicrafter a while back and I’ve done quite a few projects with it. I cut out a place in our kitchen cabinets so I could install a dishwasher for my wife. I don’t know if I could have done this using any other tool. I was so impressed with it I took on another project in the kitchen. I refaced all of our kitchen cabinets. My wife is very impressed with how they turned out and so our my neighbors. I also used it to sand down and repair a rusted up hot water tank on my Son-in-law and daughters camper. My Son-in-law and daughter were both amazed at how well it turned out. Then my Son-in-law was working on the roof of the camper with a putty knife trying to remove old caulking and other debris and needless to say he was getting nowhere, so I brought out the Sonicrafter and put on the blade to remove putty and in no time he was finished with his camper roof. He told my daughter he wanted one of these for Christmas. Then last week my neighbor asked me if he could borrow it. He wanted to install some laminate flooring in a couple of closet. He used it cut under trim around the doors and corners. He said he tried to remove the baseboard but he could not get it loose so, he just ran it behind it and cut the nails off. He told me his daughter kept asking him if he liked the Sonicrafter. He told her

he really liked it and would like to have one. I think he may get one for Christmas.

I gave it five stars I love it…

    Just the tool I needed!
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I’ve already used the Sonicrafter to cut quarter-round at floor level (to place tight-fitting furniture), cut a groove between exterior siding pieces for flashing (for the roof of my lawnmower and gas grill shed). It’s the tool I think of each time now when I have a difficult to do or to get-to job. Very pleased I bought it.
