After fixing loose lead, works great. Rating:4 out of 5 stars I’ve gone thru two of these Dremels. I rarely use them and even then just for short periods. I was cleaning up some fiberglass and after about 10 minutes of use at high RPM it was too hot to hold. I shut it down to cool off and it wouldn’t start after that. Replaced the brushes the next day and it ran for about 5 more minutes before it was done. Very useful in its niche, but I’ll go with the cheap knockoffs for something that has such a short lifespan.
UPDATE: Given my Dremel wasn’t working I disassembled it and found one of the wire leads was not properly connected. I reconnected the lead, blew out the switch and now it runs sweet. The quality looks good. There is no plastic shaft that another reviewer mentions. Shafts are metal. It has ball bearings on each end where cheaper products would probably have bushings.
Great Tool for the Guy in your Life! Rating:5 out of 5 stars If your boyfriend or husband is interested in fixing, hacking, or building things this is a great tool. I purchased this for my boyfriend who loves to build computers and always has a project going. Ever since I bought it for him last year, I have received no complaints. Plus it is easier to get him to help me build things now!
Good for many uses Rating:4 out of 5 stars I bought this dremel to file the nails on my 2 large dogs. It works well for that purpose, assuming the dogs cooperate. My kids have found other uses for the dremel. At this point I don’t have a single pencil in my house with an eraser and all of the Sunday cartoon characters are faceless from their dremelling. I imagine this tool would work very well on other tasks as it has a nice variable speed. I just haven’t used it for anything other than the dog’s nails.
Great tool for every DIY. Rating:5 out of 5 stars My dremel has come in handy at least 3 times since I have gotten it. I used it to cut some metal and sharpen my pruning shears. I am very happy I got this tool.
Amazon has really gone downhill with quality Rating:3 out of 5 stars THIS REVIEW IS FOR AMAZON NOT THE DREMEL:
Amazon sent me a greasy and dirty obviously returned Dremel. Amazon is really going down the drain. This is not the first time they have sent me a used item.
Broke first time using it!!!!! Rating:1 out of 5 stars I bought a new one because my Craftsman one had trouble with the chuck, couldn’t remove the bit. When I used the Dremel the rpm varied a bit a full which was odd and when I pressed the brush screws it changed so something was up. After using it to cut off some metal I picked it up again and it would not start. I noticed that the brushes were 1/2 the size of the ones on my craftsman.
Took some parts off the Dremel, fixed the Craftsman and my Craftsman is now working like a charm.
Professional Workhorse Rating:5 out of 5 stars this tool does not quit, we have owned one for about four years now and use it on a daily basis trimming away fiberglass, the Dremel 395 is an amazing tool w/ a endless lifespan
Reliable Tool Rating:5 out of 5 stars Dremel is a reliable and extremely useful tool; and Dremel is a reliable company. I needed to replace a part. I went to the Dremmel website, called the 800 customer service number, and got a real person on the phone. The part was easy to order.
quality suffers with time Rating:3 out of 5 stars I bought my dremel 395 tool thinking that it would be a nice upgrade to my 5 year old cheap and nasty 20 dollar chinese rotary tool. It isnt an upgrade at all it really isnt and the pretty exterior and attachments dont compensate at all. It has not been as durable or as powerful as the chinese knock off. 15 years ago I knew dremel to be quality but it seems that quality is no longer a dremel trait.
Great tool
