I bought this Dremel tool to replace my old one that lasted for 15 years and still worked, but the variable speed dial finally gave up its ghost. this new one is as fast and versatile while having a more ergonomic casing. I have tried other brands such as Ryobi, but still prefer the dremel motor.

I BOUGHT ONE OF THESE @ A HOME DEPOT STORE.
The hi speed rotary tool is comfortable to handle.
The variable speed motor is easily adjustable with a slider switch.
The tool kit included is a good selection of pieces.
The tool I got had a defect right out of the box.
I discovered that the tool has a wobble in the shaft. with a 2 inch
long tool inserted in the chuck it is quite noticeable. I returned to the store and checked out 2 more [new in the box] and they all had this defect. At 35000 rpm top speed this could be hazardous to use. Be aware that this defect may be found in other units.

This is a great rotary tool. I bought it for a starter to add the drill press attachment and the router attachment. I have used it for several misc. projects around the house and it works great. I have an older tool that I bought about 40 years ago. The built in speed control is not infinite but has a good selection of speeds. There is space in the included carrying case for other attachments.

I own several Dremels and tend to keep different attachments on some of them more or less permanently to make them special purpose tools. I purchased this set recently as a gift for my soon to be son in law as his first Dremel because it contains the very useful right angle drive attachment that I always keep on one of my Dremels. The right angle drive significantly increases the types of tight spaces or awkward angles in which the Dremel can be used. I rated this set as 5 star because it is the highest rating in system. The Dremel tool by itself is one of the most useful tools to have around the house and with the inclusion of the right angle attachment there should be a 6 star rating available in this circumstance.
UPDATE OF REVIEW:
I have no change concerning the quality or usefulness of this product, however, the price listed on this website is far higher than when I originally reviewed the product. I would strongly advise searching the net for a reduced price, or searching the net for the “right angle” attachment and buying a less expensive Dremel upon which to attach it.

This dremel is new to the family and the best model yet.
if i were to compare the xpr to the 300 I would have to say the 300 is far ahead and dont let the price tag fool you. The dremel xpr does not last that long and thats mostly because the motor can not take the higher than normal amp rating. I have used most of all the dremels now and the closest comparison in quility to the 300 is the dremel 395 but i still think the 300 is better. The dremel 300 does not overheat, feels solid, its affordable, and looks good to. Do yourself a favor and pick the 300 you wont be sorry.
